The high stress periods that precede & follow divorce have clear negative effects on the physical & mental health of those involved. Issues & reactions, different for fathers & mothers & for children, are determined by sex & developmental stage. The effects interact & events subsequent to divorce influence competent functioning’s restoration. These differential effects, helping the resolution, & opportunities of preventive work with this high risk population are examined.
