In this study, 54 individuals who committed suicide at some distance from their homes were compared with a control group of suicides from the general population as to the most important socio-demographic variables. The victims in the distant suicide group were younger, mostly single, of a higher occupational level, differed in respect to suicide method, as well as the month & day of the week of their suicide. A more detailed study is needed to elucidate the reasons for distant suicide.
