A survey was conducted among 1200 adult Jews of both sexes who were administered the suicidal subscale of the Psychiatric Epidemiology Research Interview. Almost 8% reported they had had suicidal thoughts, 2.7% in the last year; & 1.4% reported they had attempted suicide. Results were correlated with sociodemographic variables. Implications for public health planning & intervention are discussed, as is the association with other suicidal behavior. 17 refs. (LH)
