This paper reviews findings on the relation between serotonin & human (auto) aggression; most suggest a link between diminished 5-HT metabolism & suicidal behaviour. A link between disturbed aggression regulation & lowered serotonin metabolism is hypothesized. Some major methodological shortcomings in biological suicide research, particularly with monoamines, are mentioned.
