The report provides a preliminary assessment of suicide in Alaska. Data came from 110 unvalidated responses to a 1985 survey, interviews, & a literature search. The report discusses suicide demonstration projects, the Alaska Native Health Board in a “networking” role, recommendations on data needs, & economic developments. Graphs & tabular data on attempted & completed suicide rates by gender, age, & ethnicity are included, as are leading causes of death in Alaska & the U.S. between 1959-84.
