This booklet briefly summarizes the results of 2 studies authorized by the Alaska State Legislature. The status of rural Alaskans was found to be below that of the general U.S. population. Attempts & completions were more frequent among natives than non-natives, & the highest at-risk group were native males 15-24 years of age. Rural suicide attempts were found to occur at twice the rate of urban attempts, & most frequently in the native population, both male & female, aged 15-24 years.(NBB)
