Litman states that one of the important contributions of psychoanalysis to the progress of psychology has been the emphasis of psychoanalysis on the study in detail of human life. He discusses the increase of suicidal risk for those in psychoanalysis who are unable to work through separation, loss, & absence. The suicide of Freud’s students, Victor Tausk & Paul Federn are discussed at length. 14 Refs. (NBB)
