Dr. Andriola relates several experiences with patients who either attempted suicide or were successful in their attempt. He believes that the communication received by the potential victim should be–has to be– one of caring, even if this has to be accomplished by the therapist in the way of anger, “threats”, or absurd or seemingly inappropriate remarks.
