This study is based on an examination of 39 cases of Palau suicide, out of a total of 63 that have been recorded. All but one were male; most were Roman Catholic; 75% were single, divorced, or separated; & most were by hanging. The stress of changing social & cultural norms is discussed as a predisposing factor.
