Evaluating therapeutic benefits of a psychiatric milieu setting for an AIDS patient requires that environmental maintenace (patients functioning together as a community), confidentiality & social integration be examined. A case study (a patient who presented with severe suicidal ideation & paranoid delusions) examines the impact of altering these areas of milieu treatment. Several questions are raised as to the most effective use of the milieu setting for the AIDS patient population.(K M)
