The ability of AIDS patients to tolerate the debilitating & fatal nature of the disease depends on their psychological ability to cope & on the availability of social support. This paper describes the psychiatric symptoms that may develop–anxiety, depression, & delirium–& the neurologic complications of encephalopathy & dementia.
