Dr. Richard M. Glass urges physicians to consider suicide in AIDS patients in the same manner as other chronic illnesses–as an untoward illness outcome to be diagnosed, treated & prevented. Rates of suicide among AIDS patients in New York City (1985) were found to be 66 times higher than those in the general population. The questions of rational suicide among those in the latter stages of full-blown AIDS & the risk of suicide in healthy persons informed of a positive HIV are explored. (NBB)
