Suicide rates are presented in several forms in this 1984 statistical report. Among the 14 leading causes of death in the U.S., suicide ranked 8th in 1984. The ratio of male to female was 3.6. States with the highest rate of suicide per 100,000 population were Nevada (27.0), Wyoming (19.5), New Mexico (17.8), Arizona (16.8), Florida (16.5), & Montana & Colorado (16.4 each). Suicide rankings for age were; 5-14 years, 6th leading cause of death; 15-24 2nd; 25-44, 4th; 45-64, 8th. (NBB)
