Suicide in Relation to Age, Sex and Civil Status
Material for this investigation of suicide in relation to sex, age, & civil status was drawn from post-mortems performed at the national forensic lab in Stockholm during the years 1972-73. 686 suicides (425 male, 261 female) were studied. Chi-square factor analysis, & multivariate analysis were the methods used to analyse data. The excess of males was less than expected. Suicide increased with age but was particularly high in the 25-34 age group. Rates were higher for singles of both sexes.
