This is a review of research literature on alcohol use, alcoholism, & suicide in relation to: depression, toxic effects on mood, interaction with other psychopathology, social & interpersonal effects, & common biological markers. Some diagnostic & management problems faced by clinicians in relation to alcoholism, alcohol use & suicide are discussed. (KM)
