This pamphlet looks at some factors in suicide prevention in a juvenile detention facility. Lists of suggestions for a safe physical environment & advantages & disadvantages of various prevention policies (intra & interagency referrals, isolation, suicide watch & buddy system) are provided. A 4 part assessment model consisting of an intake survey form, a parent/guardian questionnaire, a staff observation log & if necessary, an extended in-depth interview, is presented. (KM)
