406 consecutive suicide attempts made by 15-19 yr-olds in 1973-82 were studied. 226 were 1st, 180 repeated attempts. Repeaters had: many adapting problems typical of personality disorders, previous psychiatric treatment, poorer adaptive & overall functioning, more intensive psychiatric aftercare & poorer prognosis with regard to subsequent suicide than in first-timers. They were not more psychotic & did not make more difficult attempts than first-timers. Other results are also presented.
