Presented is a study on 87 adolescent suicides occurring between Jan.1, 1970 & Jan.31, 1985 in Shelby County, Tenn. Age, sex, race, & method as well as psychological, sociological, familial & other environmental influences related to the deaths are examined. The older white male dominated the statistics & the most common method was by firearm injury to the head. A discussion of studies related to suicide & adolescent suicide is included.
