Pregnancy, Suicide, and Attempted Suicide: Marital Status, Interpersonal Relation, and Social Factors (IN: Suicide in Pregnancy, ed. by G J Kleiner and W M Greston)

This chapter presents global statistics of women who died by suicide while pregnant. It also describes a study by Whitlock & Edwards (1968) who reported on 30 suicide attempts in women aged less than 45. These women were contrasted with 369 non-pregnant women of the same age group. Issues of mental state, interpersonal context, stage of pregnancy & age group of women who die by suicide while pregnant are discussed. (SC)
