The rate of suicides of Australian boys (age 15-19) appears to have doubled since 1965. One explanation may be due to a trend of coroners to reach a verdict of suicide more often. One in 7 deaths of teen boys is now termed suicide. Hospital admissions for attempted suicides have doubled in the past decade.
