A study of suicide by drowning was performed using the case files of the Office of the Medical Examiner of Metropolitan Dade County in Miami, Florida during 1980-1984. A total of 70 cases were collected & analysed as to the age, ethnicity, gender, & cause of death of the victim. Most people in this group were older white males, sober, & depressed about poor health, the death of a loved one, financial problems, chronic pain or being “tired of living”. (5 refs) (SC)
