Describes the effects & future goals of a suicide prevention centre to demonstrate the feasibility of crisis intervention services for suicidal individuals, especially for previously stable persons with acute suicidal reactions. Such services are utilized, gain professional & community acceptance & produce important new information about self-destruction. Methods for evaluating the quality of these services are being developed. Makes suggestions for improvement on current standard approaches.
