Explanations for women’s use of less violent suicide methods include a wish to avoid disfiguration, influence of upbringing, etc. Many women under stress have a weaker intention to die & the attempt is mostly a desire to live another life, indicating a need to escape from a difficult situation. Reinterprets “Snow White” & makes a parallel with some contemporary clinical cases, showing that the illusion of nondefinitive death is often assimilated, in Western culture, with a step toward rebirth.
