The suicide rates for army personnel are lower than that of the general population in 1982 (males 11.4 per 100,000, females 5.5 per 100,000). The army suicide prevention program was adopted in 1985 & consists of 26 separate initiatives in the areas of prevention, data collection, & research & analysis of the problem.
