This is a comprehensive overview of research needs in the field of adolescent suicide. Presently, the most useful data is obtained from an examination of death certificates. Current findings about age, sex, ethnicity, changes over time, imitative factors, & psychological autopsy studies are discussed. Preliminary findings from the New York Study conducted by the NYSPI/CU are reported. The author stresses there are huge gaps in our knowledge about adolescent suicide, & further research is needed.
