80 female & 70 male French-Canadians participated in a study of the importance of social support in the overall process of suicidal ideation. The results of a backstep multiple regression analysis, with suicidal ideation as the dependent variable, identified level of self-esteem, life stress, & relative religious belief as significant predictors. The contribution of social support was only significant at the 10% level. 25 refs. (RM)
