The authors examine and integrate what has been learned about death and present this information in a form acceptable to the researcher, caregiver, and the general reader. Chapters 2-7 address the question “What is death?”; 8-9 examine society’s interpretation of death, both past and present. 11-13 examine violent death–suicide, murder, and the relationship between suicide and homicide. Extensive bibliographies are presented for each chapter.
