The authors feel that the key to suicide lies in the area of cognitive processes & intellectual organization: that is, a particular thinking pattern leads some people to interpret experiences in such a way that suicide becomes their only choice. This study attempts to investigate further the phenomenon of suicidal cognition & to extend this inquiry to the thinking & feeling patterns of self-destructive women. Research design & sample size are discussed in chapter 5; results are in chapters 6-9.
