96 alcoholic Swedish men who were originally interviewed in 1957 were followed up in 1972. 25 of the subjects had died, including 3 cases of suicide. Although the number of deaths was small, the general pattern is similar to that found in other studies, namely that mortality among alcoholics results mainly from accidents, suicides, heart diseases, cancers & pneumonia.
