The purpose of this study was to determine what attitudes, philosophies, and information about childhood suicide are presented in works of fiction and non-fiction written for children aged 11-14. A sample of all works of fiction and non-fiction conerning suicide or attempted suicide available during the period 1970-84 was studied using the research technique of content analysis. Taken as a whole, the books studied seem to give an adequate and realistic account of suicide.
