This article deals with the epidemiology of suicides of consripts in the Finnish Defense Forces after WWII. The frequency of suicides has fallen since the years after the war and it has thereafter been quite stable. The frequency is lower than among male civilians at the corresponding age. Some kind of psychic or social disorder could afterwards be verified in more than half of cases sufficiently investigated, and a releasing social factor in an additional fourth.
