Describes 3 cases in which 3 adopted girls falsely alleged that their adoptive mothers dressed them in rags, made them do all the chores, & favoured their stepsiblings. The history underlying these false accusations included actual abuse of the child in a previous placement, early loss of a mothering figure, & emotional abuse in the adoptive home.
