Suicide in Sweden and the United States (IN: Suicide in Different Cultures, ed. by N L Farberow)

Presents a study designed to compare data from established cases of suicide in Stockholm, Sweden & Los Angeles, California using identical methodology in order to determine if the investigation could provide the basis for evaluating how many suicidal phenomena are universal & how many reflect distinct sociocultural processes. Findings suggest that a full understanding of the dynamics of suicide in Sweden must include considersation of cultural determinants. (20 refs.) (LH)
