Teachers & parents of gifted adolescents should be aware of the precipitating factors of adolescent suicide including gaps between their academic & social/emotional development, their fear of intellectual inefficiency, & extremes in developmental immaturities. Prevention may take the form of respect, awareness, tolerance, & participation in the adolescent’s life.
