This report outlines recommendations for the treatment of schizophrenia developed by the Australian Quality Assurance Project. Information sources agree that antipsychotic drugs are the principal treatment during the active phase. The need for continuity of care during post-acute & residual phases in order to prevent relapse & minimize residual deficits is stressed. Consistent use of drugs, specific types of family management, & customary social interventions are emphasized. 20 Refs. (LH)
