The article points out that incest victims can have self-destructive tendencies including suicide attempts. Medical and psychological aid is necessary to stop incest, provide individual and group treatment to the victim & each parent, & to heal the victim’s psychological wounds. But health care professionals are often slow to recognize incest victims and incestuous families due to common misconceptions or myths about incest. Trusting child-adult relationships must be established. (HA)
