The phenomenon of suicide in Italy is discussed with reference to post-war trends, age, sex, geographical distribution, education & marital status, & working conditions. In addition, the author reviews suicide in the context of psychiatric care, particularly as it has been affected by the mental health reform act. 13 Refs. (LH)
