50 cases of attempted suicide were compared with 50 completed suicides on variables reported to measure suicide risk, the seriousness of the attempt, & the circumstances in which the act occurred. Depressive symptoms were more frequent in the completed suicide & in the serious attempters’ groups than in the non-serious attempters’ group.
