This brief article discusses a study of the correlation between the need for affiliation & suicide & homicide rates. No support was found for Rudin’s hypothesis that national motives would correlate with deaths from suicide & homicide. Some encouraging trends were identified in the results & more studies are needed to identify significant associations. 5 Refs. (LH)
