The utility of facet analysis & the usefulness of partial order scalogram analysis for classifying persons on the basis of profile data were examined. This framework, which draws on the mathmatical principles of set theory, was applied to the study of suicidal behavior. SPS responses of 562 normal, 260 psychiatric, & 336 suicidal subjects indicated that measures of intrapersonal behavior are better predictors of suicide than interpersonal behavior.
