This study compares abused wives with non-battered women in an inpatient psychiatric unit & analyzes the differences between the 2 groups. Results suggest that battered women can be distinguished from their controls on several dimensions. Although there was a significant difference relative to suicide attempts, findings were diminished by evidence that age rather than abuse was the more important predictor for number of suicide attempts. 14 Refs.
