The Post-Hospital Adjustment of Psychiatric Patients: A Six Month Follow-up Survey

On admission to the hospital and 6 mo after discharge, 41 18-64 yr old patients rated themselves on role functioning and symptomatology using the Social Adjustment Scale-Self-Report, the Self-Rating Depression Scale, and the Brief Symptom Inventory from the Symptom Distress Checklist. Diagnoses were made on the basis of clinical interviews and administration of a structured interview.
