Three categories of demographic variables are discussed: static variables, dynamic environmental variables, & dynamic personal variables. The suicide rate is affected by both static & dynamic demographics. Place of residence, age, occupational status, war, & immigration are among the variables that affect suicide rates. 22 Refs. (LH)
