In order to test the hypothesis that volunteers at suicide prevention centres are similar to suicide attempters with regard to suicidal characteristics &/or psychological stability, questionnaries were administered to both groups. The data do not support the contention that the 2 groups are similar. Volunteers were generally content with themselves & their situation whereas attempters project an image of discontent. 9 refs.
