Mendez M F~~Cummings J L~~Benson D F
Presents a study of the prevalence of depression in comparably disabled outpatients & its phenomenology in psychiatrically hospitalized patients. Epileptics were 4 times more likely to have been hospitalized for depression than nonepileptics; 30% of epileptics vs 7% of controls reported prior suicide attempts. Results suggest a specific epileptic psychosyndrome due limbic dysfunction. 39 refs. (LH)
