Of 270 suicidal attempts registered in the Czech Socialist Republic, 250 used poisoning by drugs. A great variety of combinations were used. In the majority were analgesics & neuroleptics. The quantity of tablets consumed ranged from an average of 40 to an excess of 100. The class of drug used & their absolute number are listed. Results include that the drugs were obtained through physicians &/ or by prescription; statistically significant differences are in the class of medication used.
