Eight case histories are presented to show the complexity of assessment & intervention with suicidal individuals. The examples given vary from the more easily identified problems yielding to classic crisis assessment & intervention techniques to complex problems for which solutions are not obvious or readily available, & a case in which a major concern of the caregiver may be an effort to avoid prejudicial reactions.
