Our society needs to develop an explicit code of ethics of suicide. Preliminary to this is a need to articulate and clarify our implied code. A conceptual analysis of the term “suicide” will lay a foundation for this work. The four definitions of suicide given a conceptual analysis are: the Traditional Definition, Durkheim’s Definition, an Omnibus Definition and a Paradigm view. Other interpretations are offered and an appropriate neologism is sugested.
