The Greimas semiotic method of analysis is used on 734 suicide notes from Quebec in an attempt to reconstruct their logic & reveal fundamental oppositions. The first research results are a set of 8 statements concerning the nature & function of suicide notes, their religious content, & the spiritual profile of their authors. Suicide is studied from an “idiographic” approach. The analysis is like a “psychological autopsy” exploring the personality of each suicide, their history & inner world.
