Year: 1972 Source: Annual Conference for the International Assoc for Suicide Prevention, (6th: 1972: Mexico), p.193-198 SIEC No: 19870207

Discusses predominant reactions of survivors of suicide including reality distortion, tortured object relations, guilt, disturbed self-concept, impotent rage, identification with the suicide, depression & self-destructiveness, search for meaning, & incomplete mourning. Calls for more study of survivors both early in the post-suicide period & longitudinally. The need for inclusion of family interaction in future studies & the necessity of including other populations for comparison is noted. (LH)
